Some features of Raspbian Jessie!

sonicpionraspberrypi

Sonic Pi:

If using Raspbian ‘wheezy’ then open up LXTerminal and type sudo apt-get install sonic-pi # To install Sonic Pi Software onto your RasPi

If using Raspbian Jessie then make sure the package sonic-pi is up to date. Open the Terminal by pressing ALT + CTRL + T and type sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get -y upgrade && sudo apt-get install sonic-pi.

Then open the Programming Menu and Click Sonic Pi on both versions of Raspbian.

You can create music through code. One of my examples is found at https://coolchasgamer.wordpress.com/2016/06/23/project-file-1-for-some-features-of-raspbian-jessie/

Minecraft

Minecraft is pre-installed on Raspbian Jessie, but you can easily install Minecraft on Raspbian ‘wheezy’ by opening LXTerminal and typing sudo apt-get install minecraft-pi and pressing enter.

Eject USB Drives

In Raspbian Jessie you can simply eject USB Storage Drives by clicking on the Eject button and press on the USB Storage. This way, your USB Storage can be removed safely. On Raspbian ‘wheezy’ this button is not there.

There are loads more Raspbian Jessie features!

OpenGL won’t work on my RasPi 3

Today I wanted to get some high quality software running on my RPi3 so I installed OpenGL. Then I opened raspi-config by typing in sudo raspi-config and going down to Advanced options and clicking GL Driver and enabling it. Then I reboot my RPi3.

The screen is more stretched and I can’t see the Raspberries at the top any more. Then, when the login was meant to load, a black screen appeared and white flashed there and my TV said No Signal. Please can somebody come up with a solution for this!

Please tell me how to get OpenGL working on a Pi3!

UPDATE: It works now! I am enjoying using some professional software on my Raspbery Pi 3!

How to get Minecraft Pi up ‘n’ running

In one of my older posts I told you that you could install Minecraft Pi through a web browser. It is a quick and easy way to download Minecraft Pi but there is another way.

By the end of this post you will know how to:

Install Minecraft through apt-get

Use the API to send chat messages to the game

Connect to another player using the same network as you’s game

Please note that Raspbian Jessie has Minecraft pre-installed.

Install Minecraft

open up LXTerminal and type sudo apt-get install minecraft-pi # Install Minecraft

Open Minecraft

Type in minecraft-pi to the terminal. Then click Start Game, followed by Create New and then the game will generate a world

Controls

Move with the WSAD keys and jump with space. Press SHIFT to crouch and left click to mine and right click to place block. Press E for inventory and ESC for the pause menu.

API Chat

All players on your Minecraft World can see this message. To post a message, open IDLE from the Programming category in the Menu and type:

from mcpi.minecraft import Minecraft

mc = Minecraft.create()

mc.postToChat(“Hello World of Minecraft Pi!”)

Replace Hello World of Minecraft Pi! with your message. You could do exactly the same thing with the following code:

from mcpi.minecraft import Minecraft

mc = Minecraft.create()

my_message = “Hello World of Minecraft Pi!”

mc.postToChat(my_message)

Replace Hello World of Minecraft Pi! in my_message with whatever you want. Remember, you must be on a Minecraft World!

Local Network Multiplayer

Did you know that you can play multiplayer with people using the same network as you? To play a multiplayer game, all Pi’s that want to join must be on the same network as the world owner.

Tutorial:

For the owner:

Go onto a World by clicking Start Game and then clicking on the World or Creating a New World.

For the users who want to join:

Click Join Game and then Click on StevePi and click Join Game at the bottom left of the screen.

Nether Reactor in Minecraft Pi Editon

Only today I realised this: if you download a MCPE Survival map you can build and activate Nether Reactor Cores on the Map. Simply build a Nether Reactor. The Reactor should look like this:

nether_core_mcpi

Activate the reactor by right clicking on the Core. Once activated, Zombie Pigman should appear and a tower made of netherrack will appear. Enjoy!

nether_in_mcpi

If you can’t get the reactor working then make sure the map is Survival Mode (Technically it treats you like you are in Creative still) and find some advice online (example search. How to build and activate the nether reactor in MCPE 0.6.1) until it works.

If you have got it working then wait until holes naturally generate in the walls of the netherrack building. Then escape from the Zombie Pigmen!

Enjoy!

Minecraft PE: TAME HORSE AND WOLF

Today in Minecraft PE I actually found a horse and a Wolf. I had two bones that I had won off a skeleton and a saddle. So I tamed the two mobs! The wolf only needed one bone so I had one last bone left. I saw another wolf and tried to tame it but my one bone wasn’t enough. Here is the pic of the wolf that I didn’t manage to tame.

Cute!

Now here is the pic of me and my horse and my wolf that I did manage to tame

The horse and my dog are epic!

Achivements in MCPE 0.15.0

Today I saw one new feature for MCPE 0.15.0 – XBOX logins. I don’t have an XBOX but once I tried out the beta and needed a login so I used my Microsoft account and got a gamer tag. So I used this login to login to Microsoft here. I went on my ECG (Epic Chas Gamer) World and mined a peice of wood. Guess what? I got an achievement!

Here are some pics of my more advanced achievements!

If you have a Microsoft account you can login as that and create a gamer tag.

Then I logged out of Microsoft.

You can log out by going to options and clicking sign out.
