Linux is a great OS. Sadly, you can’t run Windows software on it without the developer optimising it first. Here are some alternatives for Windows software you take for granted:
Microsoft Office:
Sadly, you can’t run Microsoft Office on Linux. But you can run LibreOffice, a free alternative. You can install it on Ubuntu and Debian (including Raspbian) with the following:
sudo apt-get install libreoffice
Internet Explorer:
Internet Explorer is a component of Windows so it won’t run on Linux. Luckily, you can find lots of alternatives. Try Epiphany, a free, fast web browser. Install on Debian and Ubuntu (including Raspbian) with the following:
sudo apt-get install epiphany-browser
NOTE: MAKE SURE YOU INSTALL THE epiphany-browser PACKAGE AND NOT THE epiphany ONE. INSTALLING JUST epiphany WILL GIVE YOU A VIDEO GAME. AND AS MUCH AS IT IS FUN, IT WON’T HELP YOU BROWSE THE WEB.
Google it!
Try searching the web for what software you need. You will find lots of alternatives on the internet!
Cheers!
