Stats - 0 views, 0 visitors, etc

Let’s say, you one day view your stats. It says 0 views, 0 visitors, etc. Happened to me loads. It is extremely putting off. You probably don’t expect the second you press publish, thousands of people view it in the first minute. It is probably going to get popular soon.

But not straight away.

It is possible to wait a day and it still says this. It will usually say in stats. How many views the latest post has got and how many views you got that day. It just means you haven’t got any views yet. It can take ages. Don’t worry.

Soon, you will get views!

  1. Hey Chas – love all your posts on the Raspberry Pi. Keep on going regardless of visitors. Learning to explain how to do things makes you a better coder. Cheers SC

    1. I am writing this comment from Mozilla Firefox, not Chromium Web Browser.

Small Coder – Coding is great and I am very pleased that you like my Raspberry Pi posts.

      You are awesome!

  2. Dear Chas,
The purpose of a blog is not that other people read it, but that you show yourself that you can write it. It is for YOUR benefit. You see, in 10 years time it will be very helpful to demonstrate that you have been writing for 10 years.. taking an interest in the world.. sharing your thoughts with anyone who wants to see them. And only by starting now, can you get 10 years experience by 10 years time. So keep it up.
    All the best

    1. What wise words from Evan. Do you think Iain really doesn’t know what gaming is? It’s hard to believe. Mind you I’ve met him a few times and actually you know, it is possible! ๐Ÿ˜ฑ

  3. Hi guys. WordPress.com says I am getting more views than normal – 123 views each hour! Awesome.

PS: Look at the STATS FOR THIS BLOG to see how many views I have got in all my blogging life.

  4. Persevere mate. I started my political blog in 2002 and at that point blogging was in its infancy. By 2006 it became one of the top three political blogs in the country. You just have to slowly build an audience. Write something every day. As the saying goes, build it and they will come. Good luck.
    PS What is gaming? ๐Ÿ™‚

    1. Hi Doug. You seem like a cool programmer. Good luck with your coding. SpaceCraft sounds awesome. Maybe you can comment to tell me a bit more about it.

      Good luck with your coding!

  5. Keep at it! There’ll always be the odd post where it gets less views than others because people were too busy watching the telly, on holiday, or trying hard to work on their own blog to make it as good as yours. And as long as you’re happy with what you type, other people will be too and your numbers will definitely grow. Good luck with it and I will definitely keep reading especially as I’m rubbish at tech stuff so it’s very useful to know that a Raspberry Pi isn’t just something that sounds like a thing I’d like to eat.

      1. Thanks Chas! So are you. And yeah I found out that the Raspberry Pi and Raspberry Pie are different things the hard way. Definitely don’t try and eat a Raspberry Pi. Even though it has chips in it.

  6. I enjoyed reading this, so other people will too. Rome wasn’t built in a day, and I’m sure if they’d done a blog it wouldn’t have been big instantly either. Keep it up!

  7. Keep on doing stuff dude. I’ve been writing various things since I first got onto the Internet a terrifying 20 years ago and only now am I starting to make any impact. But you know what? I’ve enjoyed myself all the time! Concentrate on having fun and cool stuff eventually happens ๐Ÿ™‚

  8. Hi Chas, impressed with your blog. Even if it does make me feel even more past-it and out-of-touch than normal. When you’re the head of some vast tech empire, please take pity on me and give me a job. Obviously I won’t have a clue about any tech stuff, but cleaning would be fine.
    All the best,
    Michael
